A bit blurry, but she was really moving!

What is this you say? Clearly, it is a print-it-yourself Royal Australian Air Force F111 bookmark. You can click on the image to get a higher resolution image. The strata in the image from top to bottom is:

1) hills behind Rachel, Nv.

2) dry lake

3) desert

4) alfalfa field

5) more desert

The saturation and contrast was cranked up to give the image that tacky, gift shop look.

It was raining on and off at Nellis. Thus what little illumination was present was filtered through heavy clouds in the distance.

Tornado

All these Tornado shots were done in one afternoon on a hill near Coyote Summit, about 200ft above where everyone normally parks. A few hundred feet in elevation makes quite a difference in the photos because you can see into the cockpits with some luck, and this particular location let's you see the planes approaching the summit for a few minutes, especially if they come through the "student gap". Seeing the plane approach makes it easier to track, which in turns helps in focusing, framing, etc. When parked at the summit, planes entering the ranges suddenly appear over the hills, giving little time to set up the shot. If you don't want to climb the hills around the summit, all isn't lost as planes exiting the range give ample warning of their arrival and often fly very low in the vicinity of  Coyote Summit.

Italian Air Force G222

These photos plus the Australian C130 were taken from the top of the hill behind the Cedar Pipeline Ranch house. The tracks leading to the hill are pretty obvious once you get there, and can be seen while approaching the hill from the ET Highway. The top of the hill is totally trashed with cigarette butts and shotgun shells. [Funny how some people think their trash isn't trash.] Please don't add to the mess with 35mm film canisters. SUV or high clearance 2WD vehicle is required.

This photo is so bad I wasn't going to post it, but what the heck. This is the EA6B radar jammer plane that you hear flying around the ranges, but never see. [Of course, you never see the AWACs either.] Even though it looks like the sun was shinning down on the plane, trust me, it was very dark and I should have loaded 400 speed print film.
